University of Arkansas Unveils Athletic Master Plan (October, 2011)

University of Arkansas Athletic Director Jeff Long unveiled a $320 million, 30-year master plan for the athletic facilities on campus. “Our program is not afraid to dream big, and that is what we are doing here. Over the next five, 10, 15 years, it will continue to morph and change as our reality and our world and the landscape of intercollegiate athletics continues to change.” The plans will affect every sport at UA and in 2012, an upgraded video board at Reynolds Razorback Stadium is in the works.

NWACC Receives Grant (October, 2011)
Northwest Arkansas Community College has been given a $14.7 million federal grant aimed at improving career education throughout the state of Arkansas. "This is a tremendous day for -NWACC and all two-year colleges in Arkansas - and more specifically for the students we serve," said Becky Paneitz, college president.

The grant is part of the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Program, and will support a range of efforts, from curriculum changes to improved advisement at all of the state's 22 two-year colleges.  According to Brandi Hinkle, a spokeswoman for the Arkansas Department of Higher Education, the project will also include restructuring of 104 certificate programs and 42 associate degree programs that are most likely to lead to jobs in health care and advanced manufacturing.

The changes should start taking place effect within two years, and will hopefully help students study in fields in which they are likely to land jobs in the future.

NWACC receives Grant of $5 Million (September 2011)       

Northwest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) received $5 million in grants from the United States Department of Labor  The grants will be directed to programs such as advanced manufacturing and cyber and environmental technology.   Of the $5 million coming to NWACC, $3.8 million will be used to help speed up the education process by making remedial math, reading, and English courses more efficient, according to  Ed Franklin, president of the college.  The remaining $1.2 million to the Bentonville college will provide training and equipment for the school's cyber and environmental technology programs.   Christine Davis, dean of business, said the college is excited to receive this grant. “One of the challenges on a community college is keeping your curriculum up to date” Davis said. “One of the things this is going to do is take something we are nationally known for and make it better”.

 
Wal-Mart, Target Ink Canada Leasing Deal
(June 2011)

Target Corp., of Minneapolis reached an agreement to transfer leasing rights for up to 39 store sites in Canada to rival Wal-Mart Stores Inc. of Bentonville.  Wal-Mart entered Canada in 1994 with the purchase of the 122-store Woolco chain.  As of May 31, 2011, Wal-Mart had 325 stores in Canada, of which 132 were supercenters and 193 were discount stores.  The company has been converting the discount stores to the supercenter format.

$20 Million Expansion Project Aims to Elevate XNA (June 2011)

The Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport (XNA) is currently undergoing expansion.  Current projections point to a September completion date.  When the project is completed, XNA will boast a 54,192 SF of new upper-level concourse and terminal space and another 5,388 SF of ramp-level space.  The Dallas office of Gresham Smith & Partners is the architect for the project, with Wittenberg Delony & Davidson Inc. working to oversee and coordinate locally.  There will be amenities such as the restaurants (Ozark Grill), the CNBC news and gift store, Boar's Head Express, Jamin' Java, free wireless internet access, and upgraded seating options.

Work To Begin On Bypass (May 2011)

The state Highway and Transportation Department awarded a $19.85 million contract to APAC-Central of Fayetteville to build a section of roadway around the Benton County community of Hiwasse.  The three-mile, 2-lane roadway will begin on Arkansas 72 just east of Hiwasse and take traffic from around the community to the south and west before linking up with AR 72 again.  It is turnkey job for the contractor and the work is scheduled for completion by April 11, 2014.  This Bella Vista bypass project is the newest piece in a very large puzzle that may ultimately see I-49 span the country from the Canadian border to Mexico.  In Arkansas, the Bella Vista Bypass will be the northernmost part of that highway. 

Area Architecture and Engineering Firms Report Uptick in Jobs, Workers (May 2011)

According to the NWA Business Journal, employment at Northwest Arkansas' architecture and engineering firms is up year-over-year.  The increased activity is a welcome sign after a major slowdown in the construction industry during recent years.  NWA Business Journal surveyed some 31 firms--13 reported employment growth, 8 reported no change, and only 10 reported a decrease in employment. 

Arkansas' Per Capita Personal Income Rose in 2010 (March 2011)

Arkansas' per capita personal income rose about 3.7 percent from 2009, according to a report released by the US Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis.  The report also said Arkansas was one of 10 states where earnings rebounded in 2010 above their previous peaks after falling in the recession.  Arkansas' per capita personal income was $33,150 in 2010 versus $31,946 in 2009.  In terms of ranking, the state is 46th in the nation. Throughout the country, personal income, a different measurement from per capita personal income, rose an average 3.0 percent in 2010 after falling 1.7 percent in 2009.

Luminaries Support Working As Group for Job Growth (Jan 2011)

Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe addressed some 170 civic leaders and elected officials at the Tyson foods World Headquarters during the unveiling of a study examining regional growth issues.  The Greater Northwest Arkansas Development Strategy is a four-section, 283-page report commission by the nonprofit Northwest Arkansas Council. 

The report lays out goals to keep Northwest Arkansas competitive with similar regions in creating jobs.  Those goals include: a) Graduating a larger number of  high school and college students, b) Building more roads, c) Creating incentives to help small business thrive, and d) Maintaining outdoor recreation ares, entertainment options and other "quality-of-life" attractions.

University of Arkansas Starts a NonProfits Certification Program (Jan 2011)

Margaret Reid, professor and chair of the University of Arkansas' political science department, is helping to launch See Change in March, 2011.  The program, backed by the UA and The Walmart Foundation, is believed to be the state's first nonprofit management certificate.  Ms. Reid has enlisted three professionals to teach the seven-month program that costs $1,500.  The program will stress four focal principles: preparing for continuous change, leadership and social entrepreneurship/innovation, accountability and ethics, and diversity and inclusion.  Classes will be taught by Blake Woolsey of Mitchell Communications Group Inc., Bruce Johanson of Johanson Group, and Denise McNerney of iBossWell Inc.  Participants can earn six continuing education units by taking the course.  Classes is limited to 15 pupils and some scholarships might be awarded.  More information can be found at www.see-change.org.

University of Arkansas' Ajay Malshe, Founder of NanoMech, Recognized Nationally As Nanotechnology Leader (Jan 2011)

NanoMech founder and University of Arkansas engineering professor Ajay Malshe has been recognized by NanoBusiness Alliance as one of the country's 10 most influential nanotechnology leaders of 2010.  NanoMech is a Fayetteville, Arkansas-based company.  For more than a decade, Malshe has directed multidisciplinary research projects in nano-materials and manufacturing, micro- and nano-device packaging and integration and surface engineering for advanced manufacturing.  Results from these projects have contributed to innovations in areas of automotive machining, energy saving and lubrication, telecommunications, functional coatings and homeland security.  The University of Arkansas has a nationally recognized Institute for Nanoscience and Engineering which has worked diligently to create start-up companies to help promote economic development to enhance the state.

FJN LLC Buys Fayetteville Building (Jan 2011)

Kenneth R. Mourton, through his FJN LLC, has purchased a two-story commercial building and an adjacent lot located at 3608 N Steele Blvd. in Fayetteville.  The formerly Kershner Business Center sold for $1.15 million.  The 17,270 SF building was built in 2005.

Arkansas One of 16 States to See Economic Growth (Dec 2010)

Arkansas's 2009 GDP (gross domestic product) increased 0.6 percent compared in 2008.  The state was one of only 16 to see a gain despite declines in manufacturing.  Arkansas's year-over-year GDP growth was ranked 8th in the US with a value of $93.015 billion.  Arkansas's GDP gain between 2007 and 2008 was one percent.  Healthy advances in the areas of mining, banking and information services all contributed to Arkansas's GDP gains.

Sales Tax Revenues Up For Four Cities (Dec 2010)

All four cities, Fayetteville, Bentonville, Rogers and Springdale, reported higher sales tax revenue in December 2010 compared to the same period last year.    Sales tax revenue received in December reflects October taxes collected in November.  Each of the four cities collects a 2 percent sales tax.  One percent is devoted to repayment of bonds.  The other 1 percent goes into each city's general fund and is available for operations.  This is the 1 percent going into the genral fund that is usually tracked.  Fayetteville received $1,301,162 compared to $1,246,260 in December 2009, an increase of $54,902 or a 4.4 percent increase.  Bentonville collected $793,286 (19% increase), Rogers $930,457 (7.7% increase), and Springdale collected $793,666 which showed an increase of 3.2% over the same period last year. 

Copia Buys 15 Sunbridge Homes For $2.65 Million (Nov. 2010) 

Courtney M. Smith, through Copia Properties LLC, bought 15 single-family homes in the Sunbridge Villas subdivision in Fayetteville recently.  The subdivision is located west of College Ave between Sunbridge Drive and East Drake Street.  First State Bank foreclosed on the properties from Sunbridge Villas Development 1 LLC. 

Fayetteville, AR, and Charleston, SC, Chosen for Home Depot Sustainable Cities Program (Nov. 2010)

Fayetteville, Arkansas and Charleston, South Carolina, have been selected as two pilot cities for a Home Depot-sponsored program that will attempt to implement lasting sustainability programs at the local level.  The two cities will share equally $1 million in the three-year initiative.  The initiative is designed to provide immediate cost savings for these cities and their residents and also to be easily replicable in other communities.  The Sustainable Cities Institute (SCI) will provide a full-time local coordinator as well as ongoing technical assistance from sustainablitly experts, such as the Urban Land Institute and the Center for Neighborhood Technology.  The City of Fayetteville in partnership with the National Center for Appropriate Technology plan to build approximately 40 energy-star-certified homes for low-to-moderate-income families in the Walker Park neighborhood; design and build the new neighborhood to meet LEED for Neighborhood Development Standards; develop a Low Impact Development (LID) drainage and engineering specifications manual, and to extend a section of the Northwest Arkansas Regional Multi-Trail system to the Walker Park neighborhood.

Centers for Children (CFC) Expanding (Oct. 2010)

UAMS/ACH Centers for Children is a collaboration between UAMS and Arkansas Children's Hospital.  CFC is located in Lowell, a city northwest of Fayetteville.  CFC will add 20,000 SF space and sixty-five new parking spaces to the existing building and parking lot.  The Center will have 10 new employees including doctors and nursing staff.  It currently has 55 employees.  The idea for the expansion is to reduce the number of doctors that travel from Little Rock every Wednesday and to provide a greater level of care for patients in Northwest Arkansas.  The Center saw about 4,000 pateints when it opened in 2007 and the number has now grown to 8,000 in fiscal 2009 and 2010.  Three clinics are held weekly--adolescent medicine, pulmonology and cardiology--and several others rotate once a month.  The Schmieding Kids First program and an occupational, physical and speech language therapy clinic are currently offered at the center.

Trail Gets a $15 Million Federal Grant (Oct 2010)

Trail construction to link six Northwest Arkansas cities could begin next year, thanks to a $15 million federal grant.  The goal is to build a 36-mile trail, known as the Northwest Arkansas Razorback Regional Greenway, that will link Bella Vista, Bentonville, Rogers, Lowell, Springdale, Johnson and Fayetteville.  The total estimated cost of the project is $38.5 million, according to John McLarty, transportation study director for the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission, the group that began the project.    The grant could generate more trails spending because of matching funds and the efforts of individual cities.  The Walton Family Foundation will provide some matching funds as well.  Officials aim to have the trail completed by the end of 2013.  The grant is part of the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery program.

Fayetteville Public Library To Have A New Teen Area (Oct 2010) 

The Fayetteville Public Library's Board of Trustees gave the go-ahead to bid out the project to expand the Blair Library's teen section.  The board is planning on spending $200,000 for the project.  In addition to more space for teen book collections, young adults will have 2,530 SF space to gather.  The new space will also have a computer laboratory filled with 16 Macintosh computers and 16 laptops.  There will be a group study room that will be designed with sturdy tables to handle large school projects.  The project is expected to be completed in December.

New Retail Group to Push Mall Area as Destination (Oct 2010)

A new group called the Uptown Fayetteville Assocation plans to promote the north side of Fayetteville.  The area is a collection of retailers, restaurants, hotels, and other ventures that have largely operated independently.  In addition to the mall, the area feature large chain stores such as Walmart, Target, Kohl's, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, Toys & Us and Pier 1 as well as smaller retailers sprinkled throughout the area.  Uptown Fayetteville is defined as the area between Zion and Millsap roads to the north and south and Crossover Road and and Gregg Avenue to the east and west.  The association has 30 members including the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce.  The association has a website www.UptownFayettevilleAr.com.

Business Registry and Licensing Program

The Business Registry and License Ordinance was passed by City Council with a 6-2 vote on September 7, 2010.  The Ordinance specifies that businesses that are required to register to do so beginning September 1, 2011.  The regulation goes into effect November 1, 2011.  For a copy of the adopted Ordinance, please contact the City Clerk's Office at 575-8323. 

Strategic Planning staff began researching the feasibility of a business registry program at the request of Alderwoman Shirley Lucas and the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce due to a lack of publicly acessible data about businesses located within City boundaries.  This data will help the City to measure economic development performance, ensure public safety and enforce code compliance and tax payment.

New Developments Coming to Fayetteville, Arkansas!!

Milestone Finishes HuHot Mongolian Restaurant (Nov. 2010)

Milestone Construction Co. is the general contractor on a project to finish out a space at 637 E. Joyce Blvd. in Fayetteville, Arkansas.  Sirius Hospitality LLC of Columbia, MO, recently purchased the building permit valued at $421,000.  The space is the former home of Shogun Japanese Steakhouse that moved to a new location in Fayetteville.  The 5,275 SF space will become home to HuHot Mongolian Grill.  Key Architecture Inc. of Fayetteville is the architect. 

HuHot is a "creat-your-own" stir-fry concept.  The restaurant will have a sitting capacity of 175 people and is scheduled to be completed for a mid-January opening.

Kum & Go Coming to Fayetteville, Arkansas (Nov. 2010)

The City of Fayetteville's Planning Commission unanimously approved the plan for a Kum & Go convenience store to be built on the corner of Township and College Avenue in Fayetteville on Nov. 8th.  This means that a new prototype store should be open at the location sometime in the summer.  The space is the old Sugar Mountain Restaurant and Bill & Tony's liquor store.

Baldwin & Shell Starts $2.7 million Life Styles Building (Nov. 2010)

Baldwin & Shell Contractors recently broke ground on a 16,300 SF building in west Fayetteville (2590 W Sycamore).  The permit valuation on the building was $2.74 million.  The one-story building will eventually be the administration offices and the college for living for Life Styles Inc., a non-profit serving individuals iwth developmental disabilities in Washington and Benton counties.  About 20 employees will eventually work in the building.

Subcontractors include Campbell Electric and RGC Glass, both of Fayetteville.  Bates & Associates of Fayetteville is the engineer on the project and the building was designed by Ken Shireman & Associates, also of Fayetteville.

Washington Regional Breaks Ground For A 12-Bed In-Patient Hospice Care Facility (Oct. 2010)

Washington Regional Medical Center is ready to begin construction on the 12-bed in-patient Willard Walker Hospice Home to be located on 325 E Longview St, near the center's main campus.  Consturction will begin soon and will be finished in about a year.  The 24,500 SF facility is designed to double in size if the need arises, according to Bill Bradley, the president of the Medical Center.  The $5 million project will be funded in part by the Willard and Pat Walker Charitable Foundation which donated $2 million and the Washington Regional Foundation and private donations will pay for the remaining $3 million.

UA Unveils Plans For 80,000 SF Football Facility (Oct. 2010)

The University of Arkansas unveiled plans for an 80,000 SF football operations facility to be built south of Reynolds Razorback Stadium.  According to athletic director Jeff Long, the project will cost an estimated $24-35 million.  A $10 million "challenge grant" has been secured from the Reynolds Foundation.  Another $2 million in gifts are earmarked for the project.  Long said the facility will be funded entirely with private funds. 

Groundbreaking for Delta Group Electronics (Sept. 2010)

Delta Group Electronics celebrated the groundbreaking of a new 36,000 SF facility to be located west of I-540 in Fayetteville, AR.  The cost of the facility is estimated to be $5 million.  Construction is expected to begin by the 4th quarter of the year.  Delta Group plans to move its current 50 employees from the Prairie Grove plant to the new facility once it is ready.  It is also anticipating of adding another 75 new jobs at the new location. 

Delta Group manufactures electronic components including wiring harnesses and circuit boards for companies in the aerospace, medical, military and commercial industries.

University of Arkansas Campus Building Undergoing $4 Million Renovation (Aug. 2010)

Davis Hall on the University of Arkansas campus is undergoing renovation that includes an addition to the building.  The building is located at the corner of Maple Street and Garland Avenue.  The building will eventually get a Silver LEED certification.  The total cost for the project will be more than $4 million.  The three-story, 13,570 SF building was constructed in 1942 and will be 15,762 SF when completed. 

Architects for the project are Franck & Lohsen Architects of Washington, DC and Robert Sharp architect Inc. of Fayetteville.  Benchmark Construction of NWA Inc. of Fayetteville is the general contractor.  EB Landworks Inc. of Fayetteville is the civil engineer and landscape architect while Johnson Mechanical Contractors Inc. also of Fayetteville is doing the plumbing and HVAC work.  BioBased Insulation of Fayetteville is the insulation contractor.   

Penguin Ed's Diversifies to Cafes (Aug. 2010)

Ed Knight and his wife, Diane, owners of Fayetteville's three Penguin Ed's Bar-B-Q locations, have launched Ed's Penguin Cafe beside their Mission Boulevard shop.  The roughly 1,000 SF space is equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity.  

Spiedini Italian Grill Reopens in Fayetteville (Aug. 2010)

Local proprietor Robert Lee is making preparations to reopen Spiedini Italian Grill in the former place of Soul Restaurant & Lounge.  The property is located in the Signature Plaza locale at the corner of Joyce Blvd. and Arkansas 265.  The 3,400 SF space would be ready very soon and will have space for 125 guests.  The restaurant will have a patio seating and it will serve beer, wines and mixed drinks.  Catering/carry-out services will also be available.

Buffington Homes of Arkansas LLC Paid $1.85 million for 50 Lots (June 2010)

Buffington Homes of Arkansas LLC has purchased 50 lots of Horsebend Estates in Fayetteville.  Buffington paid White river Bancshares Co. a total of $1.85 million for the property.  White River is the holding company for Signature Bank of Arkansas.  The previous owner is BLG Development LLC.  Horsebend Estates is north of state Hwy 45 and east of state Hwy 265, about four miles from the intersection of Township St and North Crossover Rd on the east side of Fayetteville. 

Ulta Beauty Store is coming to North Fayetteville

Ulta Beauty store of Bolingbrook, IL, has started retail finish-out at 3835 N. Mall Ave in Fayetteville, AR.  The store will be between 10,000 and 12,000 SF.  General contractor is Commercial Contractors Inc. of Grand Haven, MI, while subcontractors include Bill's Electric Inc., Webb's Plumbing Co., and Red Star Heating & Air Inc., all from Fayetteville.  Ulta has about 350 stores nationwide with net sales of $396 million in 2009.  The company plans to open 46 stores in 2010.

Maurices Opens 5th Store in Northwest Arkansas

Maurices opens its fifth northwest Arkansas store in the Northwest Arkansas Mall in Fayetteville.  Maurices is a national apparel and accessories chain that caters to young female shoppers.  The store is 5,900 SF and will feature denim tees, hoodies, pants, dresses, tops, shoes, and boots.  Maurices' brands include Studio Y and Wear@Work.  Maurices is a division of Dress Barn Inc. of Suffern, NY.  It has stores in Rogers, Siloam Springs, Fort Smith and Harrison.  This new store will be its 14th store in Arkansas.

Two Commercial Starts at Twin Creeks Village

Two office buildings are currently under construction in the Twin Creeks Village.  Twin Creeks is at the intersection of Gregg Avenue and Van Asche Dr.  The first building is located at 161 W. Van Asche Dr., Ste. 101.  Van Tassel-Proctor Inc. is the construction company and a building permit valued at $781,871 was purchased to build the one-story building.  The building will be 7,428 SF and Leonard Boen Enterprises is the owner of the project.  McClelland Consulting Engineers of Fayetteville provided the civil engineering on the site.  The site is 0.99 acre in size.

The second building under construction will be located at 245 W Van Asche.  CR Crawford Constrution Co. of Fayetteville is the contruction company.  This will be a dental clinic for Lance Osborne.  The building sits on 0.58 acre and it is 3,500 SF.

Twin Creeks still has 11 lots available ranging from 0.70 to 2.90 acres in size.  Total acreage is 34.4 acres.  The land is zoned C-1 and the area is suitable for medical, restaurant and free standing offices.

Local Opening Farrell's Lounge, Bar and Grill

Tim Farrell Jr. and his father will soon be new owners of the Farrell's Lounge, Bar and Grill located in the heart of Dickson Street.  The "open and inviting" space of 3,683 SF space will make room for booth seating, lounge furniture and several flatscreen TVs.  There will be live music and roughtly 30 beers on tap at the non-smoking establishment.  Total new hires could reach 12-15 people.  The new lounge is located at 311 W Dickson and is scheduled to open in time for the fall.

Subway's 8th Store Opening in Fayetteville

Sage Partners, representing Subway restaurants, has recently reached an agreement for Subway to open its 8th store in Fayetteville at the intersection of College Avenue and Ash Street.. The store has 2,000 SF space.

$10 Million Grant from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation to help build an addition to Vol Walker Hall, UA

The Fay Jones School of Architecture at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas, is getting a $10 million grant from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation to help build an addition to Vol Walker Hall.  The addition will be named the Steven L. Anderson Design Center, pending UA Board of Trustees approval, in honor of the foundation's president who is a 1976 graduate of the UA School of Architecture. 

Marlon Blackwell Architect of Fayetteville, in partnership with Polk Stanley Wilcox Architects of Little Rock, will be designing the addition.  The 31,000 SF addition is scheduled to begin in 2011 and will be finished no sooner than the fall of 2013.  Concurrent to the construction of the center which is expected to cost $12.9 million, renovation of Vol Walker Hall would also begin at an estimated cost of $19.8 million, bringing the total cost of the porject to an estimated $32.7 million.  Fay Jones, an Arkansan, was a one-time student of Frank Lloyd Wright and was considered one of the greatest architects of the 20th century, having won the AIA Gold Medal, the American Institute of Architects' highest honor, in 1990.   

Improvements on Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport

Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport is adding new terminal gates.  Construction for the addition has begun and it should be complete in the fall of 2011 according to Scott Van Laningham, the airport's executive director.  CDI Contractors is in charge of the project.  The new addition will add 11 gates to the east side of the termnal.  The configuration will eliminate three gates, resulting in a net gain of eight gates.  There will be boarding bridges which span from the terminal to airplane doors at each of the new gates.  One of the bridges will also work for wide-body jets.  The project is worth over $20 million. 

Happy Hollow Elementary School

Sharon Pepple, Happy Hollow's principal, broke ground on April 28th for the new 65,000 SF elementary school.  The school is scheduled to open in August 2011.  It will accommodate 500 students and it is built on a 33-acre site once part of the 120-acre Happy Hollow Farm.  The new school will cost $10 million.

Park Centre LLC

A new 105,000 square-foot retail and office development is coming to north Fayetteville in Arkansas.  Park Centre LLC is preparing the site and the development is planned to be ready in January 2011.  Park Centre will be located on the north side of Zion Road at Vantage Drive.  The development will feature a 69,000 SF medical and professional office building and two retail and service buildings totaling 36,000 SF.  Hank Kelly of Flake & Kelley Commercial is a co-managing member of Park Centre LLC.  Two major tenants that have already secured space in the development are Garver Engineers and Ozark Dermatology Group.  This development will cost about $10 million to build.  Miller Boskus Lack Architects PA of Fayetteville serves as architects as well as partners of the project.  Kinco Construction is the general contractor while H2 Engineering Inc. is the civil engineer for the project.  NEC Inc of Rogers will oversees the asphalt and paving.

 Acticut International AB from Sweden has announced that it will establish a new worldwide corporate office in Fayetteville, AR.  Acticut designs and manufactures products involved in the wood- and metal-cutting industries, particularly in reducing vibration caused by the cutting motion.  Articut will perform research and development, sales and marketing, and manufacturing in the Fayetteville facility.  It is expected to employ about 10 people in its first year of operations.  Acticut hopes to expand that number to 20 or more the following year.  The company has not picked the location or the amount of space needed yet.

First Baptist Church of Springdale and The Church at Pinnacle Hills are expanding their mission into Fayetteville.  Construction is underway for a 15,750 SF building.  The new building will have Sunday school classrooms, office space and a 344-seat worship center. The Shoppes at Wedington LLC purchased the building permit for $1.59 million to build the building at 3484 Wedington Drive.  The group bought the land for $976,000 in June 2008.  Miller Boskus Lack Architects PA is the architectural firm on the project, McClelland Consulting Engineers Inc. is the civil engiener, and CR Crawford Construction is the general contractor.  All three comapnies are Fayetteville-based companies.  Financing for the project is provided by BancorpSouth Bank.
